Frequently asked questions.
Who can join the Tolar community?
Everyone who works in the lift industry: technicians, engineers, service managers and business owners. The community is only for people from the industry, so you’re talking with people who understand your work.
Is the community really free?
Yes. Joining the community is always free. Field Kit adds unlimited troubleshooting on top. View plans →
Why not just use ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is built to answer almost anything, based on the open internet. That internet doesn’t hold the information for many lifts, and what is there has never been checked. Tolar is built specifically for lift technicians. It works from technical data and documentation, combined with experience from the field. That makes it a lot more accurate and reliable when you’re standing in front of a fault.
How do technicians know they can trust Tolar?
Tolar only relies on validated technical information from technicians, OEMs and other trusted sources. No guesswork from random websites. That’s why it’s far more accurate and reliable than general AI tools.
What if Tolar doesn’t know the answer?
Then Tolar tells you so, instead of making up an answer that could be wrong. We use unanswered questions to expand the knowledge base, so Tolar keeps getting better. And for everything else, you can always ask the community.
Can I add my team to Tolar?
Yes. Tolar is made for technicians and companies, so you can easily add your colleagues, manage billing in one place and more. Each technician gets their own account.

Tolar covers the top 6 OEM brands, with 7000+ error codes across 25+ controllers. We keep adding brands, controllers and codes, based in part on what technicians ask for.
What’s included in the free account?
With a free account you get access to the community and 5 troubleshooting lookups (one-time), so you can see how Tolar works on real faults. For unlimited troubleshooting, upgrade to Field Kit.

Do I need to install anything?
Only the Tolar app on your phone. Technicians use Tolar from A to Z in a simple mobile app: download it, log in and you’re ready to go. No training track needed. As an admin, you manage your team, users and billing in the web app.
